Okay, okay, I know I said no notes from this point on, but if you come here to the blog you'll see I can't help but put a couple of comments out for you. I know I'm going to miss seeing you all on a regular basis so I'll just write to you here whether you read it or not.
Remember to WORK and save your energy/focus for the stage. Be kind to each other and helpful.
Great show everyone! The audience left seemingly very happy after a late start and a lengthy act break, but you all gave them a good show and as Daniel Tosh says, "We thank you for it."
Thomas - Many thanks! Things are starting to streamline better. We all appreciate your dedication and effort to get it to move effectively.
Kids - It seems like every time we switch casts we forget that during the scene at the top of Act Two we have to open up and cheat out. Once again Sawyer's voice is credited to Louisa, and Gretl's voice seems to be coming from her bottom! Please cheat out. If you don't understand this concept, please see me or Brian and we'll talk you through it. It's that you need to angle out more so the audience can see your faces and you should never look upstage further than profile UNLESS you have been directed to do so.
Jeff - I'm sure Chris W. will not be able to see this, but would you guys pull the "Elberfeld" dialogue DL more. We seem to be setting right in front of Elsa and she's supposed to be a part of the scene.

Note for 3/17
Notes for the 3/17 Run
ADDED! Can the Saengerbund of Herwegen and Brunhilde please see me before the run tonight. I want to talk about your bows during the festival.
All – Captain Von Trapp asked me to ask everyone to make arrangements to have something to eat at Applebee’s after rehearsal tomorrow night. He observed that we can sleep in on Saturday so we should all go out and pass a good time.
Great Job tonight. Thanks for all your constructive work and positive attitudes during this difficult time. I think you’ll be reaping the rewards of your hard work and dedication soon .
With that said…
Nuns – pull your line down like we talked about after the wedding in this first scene too. It’s a way for us to isolate you and allow scene changes to happen behind you.
Micah – remember earnestness. “But I pray and I try” this was flat but it could have been nerves.
Micah – we have a plan for your “confidence’ costume change. See Adam.
Micah – “Oh Help” Think Julie! It just needs to be bigger.
Jeff H – I think I need a bit bigger realization at how awful that ugly dress is.
Micah – Remember coming to the Von Trapps is really an adventure for you and you’ve committed yourself wholeheartedly to it.

Notes for 3/16 rehearsal
I gave out most of my notes in person and a great deal of what I'm seeing has been covered in previous notes. Take a look back over the notes for the last couple of days to review.
Nuns - In "Maria" the clown gesture looks wierd. let's think of something else.
Micah - remember to got as far DL for the beginning of Confidence when you start. You'll sit on your suitcase.
Everyone - Please hold for a count of 5 before moving after a number and please walk.
Micah - "Fav. Things" You can lean on that table and look like you're sitting on it
Dana - the circle cross was great after "Maria"
All - too much noise and talking backstage.
Elizabeth - just remember to make a really bad face at Sawyer at the scene before Do Re Mi
Liesl and Friedrich - adjust a bit closer to Maria when she says "come I'll show you" at the chair.
Everyone - don'nt move until the lights are totally out.
Liesl - don't come in the bedroom until we hear the Thunder!
Maria - remember to actually close the window.
Kurt - we want to make sure YOU weren't
Pete - we talked about working the door and closing it when you came in.
Jeff - we should have saucers for the coffee cups.
Gretl - You left the door open
Serguis - When every one looked to Maria in the curtain clothes scene you didn't look.

Chris in "No Way to Stop it" You bring Georg DL don't dance and he just goes.. he's trying to leave and you need to escort him DL befor the "cockeyed" section.
Wedding - everything is build off of the center. Look for the "0" and base your blocking off that. Kurt and Friedrich and the girls can expand further DS during the wedding. It's kinda tight.
Brigitta - When Max asks you if you trust him, your "no" should feel like "of course not"
Dean - would you center yourself on the portal DL

Once in the line, we'll take a bow off of Sister Berthe and then Berthe, Maragretta and Sophia will step down for a group bow lead by Sister Berthe. Once the bow happens all Nuns return to their Wedding position.
2..Admiral (USL) and Barone E (USR) come from the back meet DC and bow together. Admiral pulls far left, Barron pulls far Right.
3. Her Zeller comes in from USL and Nazi boys from DSR/DSL to meet in center. Nazi's flank Zeller, they bow and then gester to Zeller to bow. Zeller gestures SL and moves to the SR line by the Barron.
4. On Her Zellers gesture Franz enters and crosses to center bows and gesters right
5. On Franz's gesture, Frau Schmidt moves to Franz and bows...can we remove her habit? Then Franz moves to line SL. Ally returns to the nuns.
6.Max enters SL X center bow and gestures SR as he pulls to the SR countering as Elsa comes out
7. Elsa enters SR and x's to Center, bows gestures UL for Rolf as she adjust to the SL line
8> Rolf comes from UL to C and bows. Pull SR and gesture for Liesl who comes from UR to Center with the kids who stand in their first line up. They split in the center and move to either side.
9. Kids enter UR and go to center in their first line up. Each takes a single bow, then a group bow. They split in the center and move to either side once Liesl then retreats UL and Esorts the Captain Center while the kids split to either side.

Another long and productive night! You keep chugging along regardless of how much is being thrown at you. Thanks for the hard work…I know I keep saying that…but I mean it.
Please look over the prop table and make sure you have what you need when you go out onstage.
Please be prepared to adjust the Waltzing section tonight. I think we need to work it before the show.

Nuns- Please get together before the show and review the steps for the Alleluia. Many different versions.
Nuns- remember to hide your hands unless you are using them.
Nuns- We need to review the final pose for “Maria” the triangle is gone. Also please make your eye direction the same as Mother A’s it’s all over the place.
Confidence – can we put a hat on Maria? Does she need a jacket too?
Peter/Franz – Please remember to pull right of the chairs when you enter.
Ally and Pete – I thought you did a great job on the joke tonight.
Miach – Really emphasize “The poor didn’t WANT THIS one”
Kids – Remember you need to leave space for Brigitta to come into the line.
Sawyer – Madison is just going to give you a dirty look now. Not punch you..just react to it. You seem surprised by it tonight.
Brigitta – “Anything” your position needs to open up, we can’t tell who’s saying this.
Rolf – you really need to emphasize pretty AUSTRIAN and also GERMAN

KIDS – let’s change your entrance for the bedroom scene to SR, but you must all get closer to the bed or you will be in darkness.

Colden – remember to open up …especially when you are playing the fake instruments in “Goatherd”

Nancy – After “Love Survives” number please move to Max following the applause so the two of you are left of center.

Gretl – remember to not turn your back to the audience. You’ve got to be aware of this so we can see your pretty face.

Gretl - I only heard “sore” not finger…
Kids – You have to let Maria bring you DSR after you sign Favorite Things with her.
Micah – I think you need to look at bumping up “A new postulant” a bit more. It’s getting lost.
Miach – remember that even when you are telling the captain off, you are doing it with Love!
Something Good was great.
Brian/Adam – The coat on Herr Zeller really looks too small.
Chris W. – You’re playing profile a lot. Be mindful of this and try to open up a bit. I’m sure it’s that you’re listening, but I feel like I’m missing things.
Liesl – Make sure you counter further left to almost the table when Max is telling Maria she and your dad must compromise.

First Tech 3/14 Notes
Wow! That was an amazing and exhausting run through and you should all be very proud. Many elements were fusing at once and we still managed to run the show in under three hours. Kudos to Brian and the staff for a great job ! Cast, you did incredibly well from all angles and held it together despite enormous obstacles. I’m very proud of you all and want you to know that my notes are really being nit-picky at best and that I feel you all are heading to the opening in great shape.
My notes from last night are slim to none as I felt we all needed to just ease into our work with all the new set additions, costumes and sound. Here’s what I observed.
Diction – as we add more to the show I am noticing that everyone is getting a bit sloppy with final consonants and talking quite fast. I know we’ll calm down as we get used to the new elements coming to the show, but make an effort everyone to take a breath and speak a bit slower.
This does not apply to Chris…he can speed things up a bit.
Nuns - Our spacing on the Alleluia line is a bit tight on the Stage left side. Please see Lynne about adjusting it.
Nuns – During Maria remember to adjust up to the desk after the song. Mother did it and you have to follow. Thanks.
SOM – Great job Micah!
Confidence – Micah you really have to pull down left as soon as possible for this number so we can spot you and darken the set change.
Von Trapp House – I think we are going to pull one of the chairs in the room on stage left. We’ll need to adjust Do Re Mi on that.
Brigitta – all around great job tonight. Thanks for taking care of the guitar
Rolf and Liesl – The kiss at the end was great!
Goatherd – I think the tempo is too fast…I’ll talk to Dennis about pulling it back. It looks frenetic
Gretl – Make sure you feel up twice and down twice behind you before turning slowly…wide eyed and then jump at the thunder and run.
Girls – really pull at the back of the nightgowns so there’s more distance between you.
Nancy – we need to be a little more playful in the “occasionally I catch a glimpse of him” sequence. We also need to adjust the position a bit so house left can see you.
Friedrichs – we need you to have the guitar for the reprise of “Sound of Music” just pretend to play.
Pre – party – Ally – remember to set this up so we are fully right and in front of the portal.
Party intro - We will review this tonight before the run
Morning Hymn – just remember to move to the DS line as quickly as possible and to step touch across.
Mother A – Climb Every Mount – scene is going very nicely. I know you are acclimating to the nuns outfit but what a trouper you are!
Act 2
Kids - remember to really play up the Max Butt Dance!
Friedrich – you will need the guitar for the “Sound of Music” that the Captain makes you sing after Max leave. Just hold and stum – see meee about it.
Jeff and Micah – just a reminder about placement for “Something Good” so we see both of you.
Micah – remember your reason from breaking from Georg to sing this song.
Mother A – thanks for being a sport on the cape. We are talking about it and what to do. Just mime it for the next rehearsal.
Gadeamus - Jeff/Priest I love the priest but now we know when he comes in. If not see me. And thanks for the giggle it was cute.
Kids – please check in with Lynne about your wedding steps…things are not clean
16/17 Reprise – great job, but we need the couch to open up. It put Liesl at a visual disadvantage
Rolf – Now that’s what I’m talking about. Great job and lots of angst.
Girls – Be aware that Rolf is going for the juggler and get your lines out. He was rolling and one of you hesitated with your line. Liesl I think it was the “Rolf, don’t talk like that” and it blew the build. Just run through this before we do it tonight.
Concert – Kids!!! the line up was not correct. Please check in with Lynne to make sure you know where you are supposed to be.
Garden sequence – Sister M wait a minute and let us process where they are before coming in. Also let the family react to the “Look There” before continuing.

Sorry these are so late, but some of them are still relevent:
Having played Max for this rehearsal, I have limited notes. Some of what’s here I may have spoken to you individually about.
Nuns – number 2 and 6 should line up with the #10 on the stage.
Berthe – schock on “permission” line and then shake your head.
Confidence – Micah just remember to start as far DL as you can and stay DS
Franz – when you enter from the whistle, make sure you are right of the SL chair
Ally – your reaction, although funny, was a bit too big for Franz’s line
Jeff – When you are talking to them your arms are wiggling a bit.
Micah – “The POOR didn’t WANT this one” it’s being underplayed

Liesl - Rolf can't do his "I know, I know" hands unless you try to correct hims at "Going on,.." You missed the second one.
Rolf - Review what we changed on the bench after your yawn with Liesl so she knows we want you standing up for this. Have fun pulling it back around for a potential kiss.
Rolf - "Can I come again tomorrow" sounds like your saying "oh darn it" as opposed to "hey! this was fun, let's do it again!"
Colden/Lynne - Colden is hysterical in the pop corn sequence. You kids need to have fun!!

Sawyer - cut the "heh heh" in this scene it seems forced.
Kids - Keep singing during the leapfrog until Maria says "Captain." It can be louder too and gigglish!
Jeff - Good job with 'Captain! I still think you need to discover the feel for "frauline"
Sawyer - remember to cheat out.
KIDS! You have to have expression on your face. How do you feel about your father singing after all this time?
Brigitta - Rocks, but she needs to cheat out a bit.
Ally - When the Captain whistles for you during the children sequence, you glide not march. You refuse to surrender your dignity.
Act 2
KIDS - Goatherd seene needs to be you being your most mischievious. Have fun with the blindfold sequence and laugh it up.
Nancy - anticipate your entrance so you're further into the terrace when Maria finishes "Favorite Things"
Liesl - Instruct Friedric to take guitar out from the terrace table when you leave, after Maria returns.
Kids - try asking Maria questions at the end of Fav/Things and let her walk you as a group DR so we clear the terrace entry way.
Nancy - remember to suggest with your hand when you move Max off the chair, not push.
Something Good - nice job. When you pull out on "nothing comes from nothing" just admire each other.
Micah - Let " All I could wish for is here" be to him, but it's too embarassing and you can't look him in the eye for it yet. That makes you retreat to consider how this could be deserving for you.
Wedding - Jeff M. let's talk through it before we run it tomorrow...in the break
Brigitta - Your "no" to Max must sound like "of course not!"

Liesl - Let us see that you've learned something from Maria when you get to "I'll wait a year or two"

Elsa- With the ring, take it off without Georg knowing, and when he kisses you hand, draw it up and drop the ring in his hand so we can see it. It's too intimate presently and I can't really tell what happening.
All - unless Brian instructs me otherwise, we should be enter DR for the Garden and not so far upstage. There may be problems with this, I will seek out Brian.

Liesl - You look great up there and are so natural . We need to look at "Bachelor Dandies" it's the only really confusing moment to me. Let's review your kiss with Rolf. It looked like you had done this before. It should be the awkward first kiss feel. You should yell at center after he leave.
Liesl - Rolf can't do his "I know, I know" hands unless you try to correct hims at "Going on,.." You missed the second one.
Rolf - Review what we changed on the bench after your yawn with Liesl so she knows we want you standing up for this. Have fun pulling it back around for a potential kiss.
